Rattan Rabbit Hole

Good Morning Lacquered Lifers! So the other day I ended up down the rabbit hole of the internet, searching for light fixtures for a client, and I came across Selamat Designs …. why have I never heard of this brand before? Based out of San Francisco, they specialize in rattan/jute/wicker products from places like Indonesia. The combination of living in Charleston, with our zone 9 subtropical climate, and my love of Tom Scheerer always makes me a sucker for natural material products, so I couldn’t be more thrilled when I ended up on the Selamat website … and  the price points are not astronomical. For example, the Beehive Pendant is listed around $200. The “Nightscape” of Preservation

Frank Relle 7Hello Lacquered Lifers. I know, I know, it has been a while. Putting the house on the market and getting ready for the move have really occupied my time … along with work and a sick dog. I’m sorry I have been neglecting you! To kick off the comeback today I want to introduce you to New Orleans based photographer Frank Relle. I was introduced to his work through an article in the NY Times, and I’ve fallen completely head over heels for his “Nightscapes” series. Photographing buildings all over New Orleans, particularly those in need of a little TLC, the lighting he uses makes the buildings seem as though they are part of some magical land … which, for those of us who have spent any time in New Orleans, know is the truth. For more information on Frank Relle, and to peruse more of his stunning work, visit www.frankrelle.com . And don’t worry Lacquered Lifers, like these historic buildings, I am here to stay. xo OliviaFrank Relle 6 Frank Relle 5 Frank Relle 3 Frank Relle 4

Leaving Church Street.

Exterior 2Good Morning Lacquered Lifers. So sorry that I haven’t been here in over a week. Now I can finally tell you the reason. We have put our house on Church Street on the market. Not to worry, we’re not leaving Charleston, we’re just ready for the next project and the next adventure. Church Street has been absolutely wonderful, such a happy place for Mr. B, Hamish, Hugh and me – but we’re ready for the next chapter. While I am excited for the next move, I will definitely be sad to leave our house on Church Street. So today, just a few of my favorite photos by the extremely talented and lovely Francesco Lagnese from the Southern Living feature. Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Portraits, Interiors Living Room 2
