La Petite Bastide. Located near the Luberon mountains in Provence, France. Anybody feel like a vacation to Provence? Mom, I know you would totally go with me … The farmhouse has been carefully restored and added on to by its owners over the years, who enjoy time away from their home in Marseille to tend to the vines and fruit trees on this estate. When they purchased the property, the house had to be completely gutted – the only things in good enough shape to keep were the exterior walls and the roof! With the new construction on the interior and the newly built extension, the owners Michele and Bruno Viard used traditional building methods and materials – as well as paint colors – so the new construction blends seamlessly with the older structure. In addition to using traditional methods and building materials, the Viard’s scoured local antique stores for discarded architectural elements to use within the home, like this stone sink. Having to gut the farmhouse gave the owners the ability to open up the floor plan and increase the size of window openings, which lend themselves to a brighter more modern interior. Who wants to take a trip to Provence with me? The best part of La Petite Bastide is that it is available for rent! Click here to be redirected to La Petite Bastide’s website.
