What is it about getting back from a vacation and feeling like you need another one when tackling all the laundry? I put off the unpacking yesterday because I couldn’t face the laundry, but today is laundry day and I will be spending a lot of time in my butlers pantry where we have hidden our washer and dryer under the countertop and behind some cabinet doors. This is one of those small space solutions that people are always amazed that we came up with, but honestly I think when you’re coming from an apartment in New York, you will get as creative as possible to have the luxury of a washer/dryer in your house. Remember that historic house restoration in Mississippi I shared a couple weeks ago? Well this is the laundry room, and today I am extremely jealous. Although I am quite content doing laundry in the butlers pantry, one day I am going to have a dedicated laundry room that I hope is as attractive and organized as this one. I guess you have officially grown up when what you’re fantasizing about is a large organized laundry room. Happy Friday!

Favorite Harbour

What would a beach week at Lacquered Life be, without featuring some of my favorite “beachy” tastemakers? Two of my all time favorites are Harbour Island locals, Tom Scheerer (obviously) and India Hicks. I love the nature of all of these interiors spaces that seem to say, “Sit down in your wet bathing suit, put your sandy feet up, and have a planters punch.” Well, at least that is what it says in my mind. The stylish yet practical vibe of each of these vignettes, note hats on the wall and beach bags at the ready, is what caribbean living is all about, and why I am so excited to head to Jamaica on Friday.I highly recommend following India Hicks on Instagram and Tom Scheerer on Instagram for more photos of life in Harbour Island. Also if you need a recommendation on where to stay in Harbour Island, my dear friend Chassity over at Look Linger Love just came back from a stay at The Dunmore, and it looks like heaven. Also, you can actually rent a house owned and decorated by India Hicks(!), here. And finally, below is a picture from our guest room here in Charleston, where these two island tastemakers have definitely had an influence …

Table Hopping

Hope everyone had a great weekend! As promised, I am sharing photos of my Easter table. I was planning an Easter lunch in the garden, but the weather in Charleston yesterday was not exactly agreeable, so we moved everything inside … and it all worked out. It was a great day filled with good food and good friends, and people arrived at noon and didn’t leave until eight o’clock. A full day of celebrating. And I have to give a shout out to my husband, who did all the flower arrangements for the table, and helped me by blowing out the interiors of the eggs that are sitting in the little pots.
