Target 3
Threshold Industrial Barstool with Wood Top – $129.99 (pair)
Target 4
Threshold Faux Shell Inlay Hexagonal Accent Table – $63

Over the weekend I ventured to Target to pick up some things completely unrelated to home decor or furnishing. However, not surprisingly I landed in the home decor section of Target, where I was completely blown away with what their Threshold line had to offer. I think that the tufted bench above is my favorite, but I have included some others. The prices on some of these items are so good, and the designs are timeless. These are four well priced pieces that you will never tire of. Click on the photo to be redirected to target.com.

Scouring World Market for a National Holiday

Rustic-Natural-Table-Setting-feathers1Last year I hosted my first Thanksgiving. I had a blast planning the table scape really far in advance and picking everything myself. This year, we’re going back up north to be with my family in Connecticut, and yesterday my mother and I started talking about planning her table scape. My mother said that this year she wanted to go for a more “natural” look on the Thanksgiving table – maybe even a little rustic. As we were discussing all the pieces, I suggested that she go online and check out some moderately priced things from World Market. Well you can imagine my surprise when she said, “what’s World Market?”. World Market is great, it can be hit or miss, but often has some great little finds for low prices. Simple glassware, for instance, is great at World Market – baskets, napkins – the list goes on. So today I thought I would try and piece together my mother’s rustic/natural Thanksgiving table with some finds from World Market. WM TableclothFirst, the Ivory Hotel Linen Tablecloth as a base. WM ChargerThen, add Driftwood Chargers.WM PlatePlace the Nantucket Plates atop the Driftwood Chargers … WM NapkinAnd add the Parchment Hemstitch Napkins. WM FlatwareThe Danieli Flatware gives a homegrown rustic feel to the table.WM GlasswareFollowed by some Tortoiseshell glassware for the water.WM BasketPerhaps a Madras Oval Basket for the bread … WM Cake StandAnd a Wood Bark Pedestal Stand for your Pumpkin Pie! And voila – a rustic table courtesy of World Market. Click on the photos to be redirected to the World Market website. Happy Thanksgiving table scaping!

For the Love of Chintz!

Maine 3Surprise surprise, more chintz love going on today on Lacquered Life. You all know my obsession with Schumacher’s Pyne Hollyhock Chintz (see here), but today I am sharing Lee Jofa’s Hollyhock Chintz with you. Part of the collection designed by Suzanne Rheinstein, this fabric is named after her amazing interior design store in LA – Hollyhock – a must go for anyone in LA with an interest in interiors. Above, Tom Scheerer used the fabric for curtains in a house in Maine. Maine5More colorful than its Schumacher counterpart, the Lee Jofa Hollyhock also somehow manages to bridge the gap between modern and traditional. As seen in Scheerer’s work in Maine. Maine 4I guess I just need to add Lee Jofa Hollyhock to my list of “fabrics to use in the future.” What do you think of this chintz? Do you care for chintz at all? If you’re interested in the fabric’s namesake, here is a link to Rheinstein’s fabled LA store, Hollyhock.
