What to Wear: Croatia

diaz 5For those of you who read Lacquered Life, you know I rarely, if ever, post about fashion. However, as Mr. B and I get ready to take this trip to Croatia, I find that my mind is a tad consumed with packing – so that is what you’re getting today. Did anyone see the May issue of InStyle with Cameron Diaz on the cover? I loved all of the shots of her on a boat – it was such a pretty shoot. So since we’re spending most of our time in Croatia on a boat, I thought I would share some favorite photos from Cameron’s pictorial, and some packing ideas I had … note the comfortable shoes – we will be doing a lot of sightseeing!  diaz 3 diaz diaz 4

Croatia or Bust!

croatiaHello Lacquered Lifers, hope everyone had a good weekend! So wanted to let you all know that Mr. B and I are headed to Croatia on Thursday – and I was hoping for any ideas/recommendations that you all might have! Cannot wait to explore this amazing country. I am spending the next few days re-reading my camera instruction book and giving Hamish lots of kisses. This will be the longest that we have ever been away from the little guy. So I would love some tips from you all whether it is about Croatia specifically, or traveling (I can’t remember the last time I was away for a week!), wardrobe, camera stuff, anything! Can’t wait to hear from you.

Feelin’ the Blues

Rainy day here in Charleston so I thought I would brighten up that gray sky with some of my favorite blues. Most of you know that blue is my favorite color:  if you look in my closet, it is blue; our bathroom, blue; dining room, blue. Love blue. So here are some of my favorite Benjamin Moore tried and true blues. Palladian BluePalladian Blue. This is a really wonderful warm blue. Patriotic WhitePatriotic White. This doesn’t look like a lot of blue, but when paired next to a strong white, this blue really shines. This is the color of our piazza ceiling.Bird's EggBird’s Egg. Very bright blue. Is a bit more turquoise on the walls, but I painted my graduate school apartment this color and it made me happy every day.Caribbean Blue WaterCaribbean Blue Water. Great in high gloss, either on walls or furniture. Wythe BlueWythe Blue. Another color that looks completely different on walls than it does here. It is much brighter and less gray than it is here. We used it on our dining room trim paired with Farrow & Ball Pointing on the walls. Gentleman's GrayGentleman’s Gray. One of my favorites. A beautiful navy. Our bedroom in our NYC apartment. Loved it. So calming and soothing. If you love blue as much as I do, do you have some favorite blues?
